Position: Post-Doctoral Fellow (R-23152)

Institution: Laboratory for Energy metabolism / Division of Metabolic Disorders, Children’s Hospital of Orange, CA, USA. The hospital is affiliated to UCLA and UCI

The candidate will join a fully equipped laboratory devoted to the study of mitochondrial diseases and related conditions. Under the guidance of a Senior Scientist, this position will be responsible for the design and execution of studies to assess cellular energy metabolism and BH4-related pathways in fibroblasts, iPSC–derived neuronal cells, and genetically-modified animals.

Required: The ideal candidate should possess experience in animal behavior, cell culture, and the use of Image J and related platforms. Experience with the use of a Seahorse Bioanalyzer, HPLC system, and flow-cytometer is a plus.

The candidate should be able to think critically; work independently; manage multiple assignments; compose written material; work well under pressure; problem solve; organize and prioritize workload; recall information with accuracy; pay close attention to detail. Able to relate and communicate positively, effectively, and professionally with others; provide leadership; be assertive and consistent in enforcing policies; work calmly and respond courteously when under pressure; lead, supervise, teach, and collaborate; accept direction.

The position is funded, initially, up to 2 y.
